46 inch DLP Problem after replacing lamp and wheel

Post by 90bison83 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 5:14 pm

Several months ago I replaced a lamp on my 46 inch Samsung DLP. Everything was working fine until approximately a month afterwards and the colorwheel had to be replaced or so I had assumed after speaking with several techs. I was finally able to replace the colorwheel via instructions from youtube. It was in fact the colorwheel because when I replaced it the old one was shattered. At any rate, after putting everything back together and plugging in the TV, nothing but it attempting to power on because I can hear the tone that the TV makes when it powers on. The only thing that happens is that there is a green lamp light flashing and it tries to power up again. Any ideas?

do you hear like an electrical buzzing, or any clicking? if you do it can potentially be your ballast. check your lamp as well just to see if there's any physical damage, black dots, crack in the filament etc...
If you post more details as far as the noises I'd be glad to go further into your problem

No noise whatsoever. The only noise that you hear is the tone that Samsung TVs make when they cut on.

The way these tv's work is the color wheel has to spin before the lamp even comes on, and since you just replaced the color wheel. I want you to check stuff to do with the new color wheel.

It could be a few things. Here are a few things to check. Check cables and make sure things are plugged in right ( Check the flat cable from color wheel to dmd board. It can plug in backwards) 2 you could of bought a bad color wheel. 3 make sure the switch is closed on the back of the tv. Do you hear the color wheel spin up? It sounds like a cd spinning up. also make sure you didn't forget to plug in any cables. If everything else checks out make sure the color wheel is the same part number you had it the tv, also make sure the color wheel spins freely.

So I cracked open my Samsung again and made sure that everything was connected correctly (even the flat cable). Screwed everything back in...walah!! IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connection somewhere. Thanks everyone for your help!!
