I have a Samsung HL50A650 dlp that when there is a certain color blue in the picture, in a large enough area, the color of blue will switch back and forth between a darker blue and a lighter blue. (For instance when a light blue background is behind a newscaster.) This is quite noticeable and happens about every one second: Like a clock. The other colors do not exhibit this flashing of hue and the picture is otherwise great. The flashing happens when hooked up to my STB via HDMI or S-Video. It also happens when hooked up to DVD via HDMI. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks to all the givers.

Hello,
When you start getting the distortion on your screen, have you tried out if the PIP option is affected as well? The image distortion is notoriously caused by a DMD board, unless you test digital versus analog inputs and the results vary, then I am almost certain this can be your digital video board which or input board... If your set is sometimes not accepting commands like the power button, there might be something wrong with your DMD board, hopefully you can find one sold separately since most of these are sold as a unit on the complete light engine.

I'm having the same problem as the OP. Intermittent flashing from darker to light color on White, Blue, and Violet purple at times. It looks really bad when I use my TV as a PC, you never notice how much white space exist on a webpage until it starts flashing from bright white to darker white. I had my lamp and ballast replaced 6 months ago as t appeared to be killing bulbs, been doing this darker to lighter flashing on and off ever since. I've even noticed that the bulb is blinking brighter then darker at the same time just by looking at it through the back of the TV. Dunno if it's a bulb or ballast issue, my thoughts are it may be something else entirely.

Did anyone every find out the original cause and resolution of the original posters problem?
