HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
I have HL61A750 LED DLP.
Suddenly, when I turn it on, it does not show any picture.
It seems that it just keep cycling like it wants to turn on over and over.
The front lights mark LED keeps blinking.
I wonder if somebody have experience with this symptoms and suggest a solution.
Thanks for the help.

First thing is to check the lamp to see if it's been burned out. Depending on the result most of the time just replacing the lamp will take care of it. Some times the ballast will need replacing. The turn on over and over is due to the ballast not able to transmit voltage to the lamp. But if the lamp is burned? you need the lamp. If lamp is good? Ballast.
Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
I am new, would you happen to know how to check (where to access the lamp) the lamp since this is the LED DLP?
I have not seen too many instruction for LED DLP yet.

post the full model for your tv and I'll guide you to the lamp you need and give you some additional info on it.
Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
HL61A750A1FXZA is the full model number.
It is 61" LED DLP 750 Series. I am not sure what the code after means.
TIA

I have this same TV with the same problem. The LED DLPs do not have lamps. From what I've seen so far, the problem lies a little deeper. Most people are saying this problem requires replacement of the main board, but I have yet to find someone that has actually done it.
Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
Well, I paid Samsung tech to come. He diagnosed the blown capacitor in the power supply board.
After the board came, he came back and replaced the board.
So everything is working again. Next time, I will try to take the board out and probably replace the capacitor myself.
Just FYI, the board is right next to all the connectors. There are two screws for the cage and it slide sideways.

I have a question, I have a Samsung DLP HLP6163WX/XAA sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and when it doesn't work I get sound but no picture and in the front the lamp code blinks like 11 times I was told this was the light engine but the light does fire up I was wondering if this could be a ballast not fully lighting the lamp?

Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
Could you post what the part number the board was that Samsung replaced. The same issue has happened to me and I'm trying to replace the part myself...
Thanks in Advance!

I am not sure if you still need it.
I would try to take the board out and find the part no. printed on it.
That should be the best way to get it.
Due to differences in manufacturing date, etc.
I would also check for bulging capacitor and try to check youtube on how to replace it yourself.
As for the source of capacitor, check ebay or digikey or mouser.
Take notes on what you need and order it.
Also, if they are CapXon capacitors, then just replace them anyway even if it is not bulging.
They are known to be the worst in the capacitor world.
I cannot imagine how a big company like Samsung uses the worst capacitor probably for cutting cost.

Update:
This is at the end of November 2014, about 4 yrs later.
There are white dots on the screen since around September 2014.
I left it alone.
TV was still turning on.
Thanksgiving weekend, the unit did not turn on.
There was 3 lights blinking and it kept cycling.
My first thought was to get the DMD Chips and I did.
The chip came a week later and installed it.
TV still not turning on.
No blown capacitor in the 2 power supply boards.
Reading further online, it said that the LED Bulb/Chip may be bad.
So, I took out the whole board and follow the Youtube video on how to change the LED Chip.
I found somewhere that you can test the LED Chip by using 9V battery.
Turned out the Green LED is bad.
So, now I am ordering a used Green LED from Ebay since there is no new one to be found anywhere.
Good thing it is only $27. Samsung is not making any spare parts on this model anymore.
Bad Customer Service.
DMD Chip is the same for most LED or non-LED DLP made by TI.
The LED Driver Board seems to look great.
If this goes bad, there is no more new supply either.
Update will come when I replaced the Green LED.
Hopefully, it will go back up otherwise the parts will be sold in pieces.

Hey,
OK as I read your details, I think this should solve your problem, new DMD/DLP chip is good I am assuming.. How old is the lamp you are using?

I am still waiting for the Green LED so I can see if I solve the problem.grayfox wrote:Hey,

The new DMD Chips is in, just not showing any picture yet since the Green LED is out.
The Mfg Date on the TV is Jan 2009, so that is how old the LED light is.

Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
Hmm.. normally the blue LED Chip goes out first after 5-6 yrs because it is the first to receive light from the Philips UHP lamp and hence gets more wear and tear... is your TV properly ventilated and in a not so humid environment?

Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
I live in North Texas, the TV is about 2 ft from the wall sitting on top of a cabinet without anything on the side.
RH in most days are less than 60% unless it rains which is not that often.
I have also vacuum the inside fairly often.
I received the Green Led and installed it. It is still not working.
It looks like there is no voltage from the main power supply connector that goes to the other power supply.
Hence there is no voltage to the driver board.
All fans are turned on.
All the Capacitor still looks good but that does not mean a thing.
I put new cap on the three 1000uf cap on the main power supply board and 100uf 450V cap (tested bad) on the other power supply.
Since I have on my stash but that does not make a difference.
There may be something bad on the hot side of the main power supply board.
Do you have any experience what can be the problem or what test I can do?

Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
hi,
well you seem very comfortable around electronics, if you took your multimeter and say there's no voltage FROM the MAIN power supply, then yes I'd agree the aux power supply will not distribute any power to anything.
Did the old green LED seem "burned in" or have any dark spots? Or maybe it failed digitally..
In my experience after the steps you've taken, I would proceed as you mention and look around eBay for a power supply. My only advice if doing so is to order by the part number on the board and not just the model..
Hope I can help!

Thanks for the encouragement.
The Green LED looks ok, no burning sign.

hint* if you are going to order from eBay, make sure they have a lenient return policy just in case ;)

Re: HL61A750 No Picture when turn on
I know. I have a New DMD Chips that I have to sell at a loss.
It was installed but the TV never fire so I cannot return it.
We decided to let the TV Rest In Peace.
The cheapest board is still around $100.
For $500 I can get another TV.
I will try to sell parts of it like the working LED Lights and a New DMD Chips.
I am not sure what other parts can be sold.

Oh that is a shame, such a great big screen!
Well if you look on eBay.com with the model number HL61A750 you can see everything to part it out.
My advice to get rid of it quick, is to list it on Craigslist.com and mention it needs repair and you don't know what. I say this because when I see listings in San Diego like that I pick em up around 100 bux and most of the time they need a lamp and/or ballast to get em started!
Good luck. Happy Holidays!
