Vertical lines on DLP screen
I have a 52" Toshiba DLP (52HMX85) purchased in 2006 and last night I had greenish, pixelated vertical lines on the screen when I turned it on. Less than 24 hours earlier the TV had been functioning normally. I turned the TV off for a minute or 2 and turned it back on and the lines persisted. This occurs on all inputs (HDMI, composite etc). I turned the TV on this morning and it appears to be functioning normally again. I called the Toshiba "technical" support and to no surprise they were not very helpful. Any thoughts or suggestions as to what might be going on here are greatly appreciated. I've attached a couple of photos as of the problem as well.

Re: Vertical lines on DLP screen
ok if t lines show up on the menus also then I would say it's the dmd board. you may want to open it up and clean out the fans. the dmd chip cools with a fan and if it's to dirty to maybe over heating and making errors. but i think its freaky it happen when it first turned on but cleaning them never hurts. if the issue keeps happening then you will need to get the dmd board replaced.
Re: Vertical lines on DLP screen
Thanks for the advice. It has not happened again since, here's hoping it doesn't! But I'll check out the fan for sure.
Re: Vertical lines on DLP screen
there are 3 fans in most dlp tv's clean them all.
Re: Vertical lines on DLP screen
Mmmmm, DMD? I would disagree, in picture no. 2 the tv menu looks unaffected by the vertical lines, so the DMD is fine, in this case it would be the digital board that probably has some swollen capacitors or something else wrong.
