Samsung HL-S4266W Lamp replaced, TV not working

Post by itmommy » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:20 pm

We just replaced the lamp in our Samsung HL-S4266W. We bought the lamp from Samsung parts, so it is a good lamp. Now when we turn on the TV, it makes a whirring noise thenjust shuts off. The LAMP LED flashes and it tries to turn back on, but never does. Could this be the ballast or the color wheel? Thanks!

That's not enough information... The lamp is always the best place to start. Make sure the lamp is a Philips lamp first of all.

Was there discoloration when it died? What kind of noises does the set make? Did you close up the back cover? There are a lot of things you've got to check -- that being said, it's possible it could be either the color wheel or the ballast.. or the perfect storm when you have all three components dead! That's pretty rare though.

Yes, I have checked the back cover and such. There was nothing else other than it just shuts off and tries to come back on. It makes a whirring noise-like something is trying to spin.

The replacement lamp is a Phillips. I bought it from Samsung, so its a good lamp.

Thanks!

Hello there I have been buying and selling these DLP units and really like them Samsung and Toshiba my vewry first one I fixed was a 61" Samsung went on then off but noice in back in componet area was like a fan out of balance. This was after I had put a new DLP bulb in and set was fired up and every thing came to life including the color wheel with its noise. I found out through some inquiries what it was and got a new color wheel and installed it problem was handled. My dad always told me problems are like a beautiful woman start from the top and work down till you find and correct the problem, good luck. Special note you could have a ballist problem and believe there is a voltage rest for it plus you could have a temp sensor also bad
