Just bought new lamp. TV turns on then turns off.

Post by Westifire » Sat Jul 18, 2009 3:00 am

Like the topic says: I just bought a new lamp. Installed it and now my TV turns off right after I turn it on.

Code: Select all

The steps:
Turn on TV.
Makes the power-on sound.
Lamp flashes green.
TV turns off.
It doesn't make any out-of-the-ordinary sounds. ex. clicking, etc.

It turns on like it normally did when my TV was working before I needed my lamp replaced.

Help me, please.

UPDATE:

When I woke up this morning it started to work. Decided to turn it back off so I could reset the lamp timer and now it doesn't work again. It does exactly what I described at the start of the thread.

UPDATE 2:

After the TV turns off the bottom "Stand By/Temp" flashes.

make sure you have the back screwed in all the way.

the latch that makes sure the lamp cover is on might not be pushed in all the way.

That's what I thought the problem was so I just tried screwing it tighter. Nothing.

Tried taking the cover off and holding the switch myself. And the TV still does the same thing. Just turns right back off.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Trying to be patient with my TV.

It's possible that the TV is detecting that you have the "wrong" kind of lamp. Go to the service menu and see if the lamp manufacturer and wattage are right, if you can.
