I bought a bulb online about 7 or 8 months ago. and I put it in my TV . A month later my tv stopped working so I assumed the bulb was broken. When i tried removing the bulb it would not come out. I retightened the screw and it started working again.

Today while watching the TV the screen started shaking a bit and turned black and white. Then started humming and vibrating badly. I had to unplug the set to get it to stop. It would flash bulb. I then removed the bulb forcefully and it broke the weld where the bulb had been too hot or faulty and welded its plastic to the plastic on the balista. So now I have a balista and a bulb to replace no matter what... Go me woo hoo ..lol

Anyways what I am wondering is does any one know if the color wheels should be due (the tv was made in 2005) to be replaced and may have been the problem not the welded wires balista and or bulb?

Also does anyone know a websight that sells a decent replacement bulb and balista? follows are what looks to be the bulb but I do not have enough to replace both or the color wheel .

This looks to be the balista :

This only covers 1 part of my 3 part question or needs however.
I also need the part directly below the light bulb housing . I think from what I have found it is called a lamp ballist .

The other thing I mentioned was do you think it could be color wheel bad from the screen going to a black and white picture moments before the humming and picture went out?

Thanks ,Chris

hello chris,
sorry your post was a little confusing :D
but to answer your question, yes, the sound and discoloration is 90% of the times associated with a colorwheel issue.
and the part below the lamp is called a BALLAST, unless I am mistaken, I am sorry If I am, I am just trying to help ;)
in order to find the correct ballast you would need to remove the part from your tv and get a part number off the board itself, that way we can find a part that is 100% compatible. :)

I am having a hard time finding those parts :( I know Samsung uses BP-XXX XXX for their part number so that would be it...
