Philips 50PL9200D37 TV will not turn on

Post by danG » Sun Aug 29, 2010 11:32 pm

Hi. I have a Philips 50PL9200D37 TV and it will not turn on. When we turn on the power, the power button light blinks slow 6 times, then blinks fast 5 times. No video, no sound - only a black screen with the blinking pattern on the power button.

Any thoughts on what could be the issue with this TV? Am I better off calling a repairman or a garbage man?

Thanks in advance for everyones time.

No, I have not replaced the bulb. I did notice the picutre was getting dull and was going to order a bulb. Before I could order the buld, this problem came up. What concerns me is that P.28 of the user manual suggests that if the lamp has failed, then the lamp indicator light will turn red. This is not the case in my TV.

With that said, I want to ensure that there is nothing else wrong before I have the lamp replaced. PLease let me know your thoughts.

To be honest the light codes are not reliable at all, i asked you how old is your tv to determine how old is the lamp, these lamps last from 6000-8000 hrs, so these lamps are consumable so it could be only the lamp or the 1st step of the troubleshooting, good luck :ugeek:

I have this same issue with my 60pl9200d/37.. I have replaced the bulb but it had no effect. I noticed when I turn it on all the fans start up and the bulb comes on for just a few seconds before the tv shuts down and begins the power button light sequence..

are you getting any sounds? or did you get any image distortion before the TV stopped coming on?

I tried the tv again to be sure I was correct and I'm actually not seeing the bulb come on at all. I can hear the speakers pop when I turn the tv off but no other sounds. All three fans are functioning though. Anyone know what voltage the ballast should be putting to the bulb? I put my meter on connection that joins the bulb leads to the ballast leads and showed 13.5 volts..

I think maybe your ballast is defective, and I would also advise against trying to read the output since the ignition charge alone is 15kV !!!
