Hi,

Picture seems fine on my 50" HL-T5076S DLP but I am getting a fairly loud buzzing/whining sound from the TV. It seems to be getting progressively worse over time.

Could someone suggest some good troubleshooting steps to determine if this is the fan, color wheel, etc?

Has the color on the picture been affected at all?
It sounds like it’s either a defective color wheel or a clogged fan. To find out you need to open the inside of your TV, first clean the inside of your TV free of dust. here is a small guide on how to do that.

If that doesn’t fix the problem, inspect the color wheel, if its shattered or broken you’ll need to replace it. Here is another post of where you might be able to find the color wheel.
