Here what's happening:

- I turn on my TV
- It powers up regularly (operation indicator is solid green)
- Picture and sound are fine
- A minute later lamp indicator starts flashing red
- TV powers off...

Here is what the owner's manual has to say:
There is a problem with the lamp or around it. Contact an authorized service center...

Can anyone shed some light as to what could be causing this...

more than likely you're experiencing a problem with your ballast.

hi, have you ever replaced the lamp on this TV??????? if no, how old is your lamp? it could be as simple as a lamp replacement o and if you hear any kind of weird noises please put attention to them to describe those noises. hope this help

Well... it seems to have fixed itself... somehow... all I did was move the corner a bit slightly off base...
Go figure...
