Toshiba 42HM66 has green and purple hazing effect

Post by aeholma » Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:34 pm

Good Day,
My Toshiba 42HM66 has a green and purple hazing effect after about 20 - 30 mins of use. It is not an effect that causes us to stop watching, it just annoying. I've been reading several topics on this on various forums, and some lead to a possible color wheel issue, however, I did not see this issue at all until I replace my first lamp. So, I'm believing it may be due to a Lamp issue? This is my first DLP and I purchased it in July of 2006 new. It was 6 months ago that I replaced the lamp and have been putting up with the green and purple hazing effect. Any direction would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

Alan

ok it may have something to do with the kind and brand of lamp you have. I am not sure how to access the service menu in a toshiba. but i know samsung has an area were you can pick the kind and watts of your lamp.

WOW I thought Jimmy Hendricks came back as a DLP TV, No way. First did you buy a factory bulb or go less expensive to save money we all tried this one time or other and better spending a few bucks more if you did. Pull bulb out and inspect for discoloration if discolored could be cooling problem, compressed air can or small compressor and blow out complete unit and all fans any screens make the little dust bunnies hoop away. recomend once every 6 months do a cleaning . This will aid in keeping your DLP running cooler and factory replaced bulb last longer. I will try to find info on that for you if possiable. s
