quick question hlt5075sx

Post by Rodcpierce » Sun Jan 24, 2010 10:11 pm

ok guys, today we were watching a movie and all of the sudden the picture on the tv goes out, but there was still sound, then the sound goes off and the TV just flashes the 3 lights. I removed the bulb and it has no signs of being burnt, so put it back together and tried it again. I can hear the color wheel spinning up, and you can hear it click and a quick buzz sound like the balast is attempting to light the bulb. You can also see a quick flicker of light in there everytime it attempts to light. But no other random clicking or anything. Could this be a bad bulb, or sound more like a bad ballast? TV is only 2 years old. Thanks in advance!!! Rodney Pierce

ok, tried to start the tv up without the bulb in there. The color wheel was not moving. But the wierd thing is the ballast was trying to fire the bulb? The light i was seeing was the little capasiter on the ballast firing. so does this mean that the color wheel would have started to turn after the bulb was fired??? Ive got it all torn appart now but dont want to replace anything that wasnt broken. The color wheel is out and when I try and spin it by hand, every now and then I get a bearing squeek, so im assuming it would be wise to replace that and the bulb forsure since it has 2.5 years worth of use on it, but what about the ballast?
