Hi, I have a Samsung HLS5687W XAA ser manufactured in September 2006. The set will not turn on. It uses a BP96-01472A lamp. I cleaned the back of the unit and observed the fans and the lamp turning on. IN the front of the set the LAMP LED blinks and sometimes the TIMER LAMP blinks at a much lower intensity. I hear strange tones lasting 2-3 sec accompanied by a 3 beeps. I do not hear any clicks that others mentioned that can indicate a color wheel issue. I don't think its the lamp or ballast as I can see the set is trying to turn and stay on....but shuts itself off. Is it the power supply board? ANY help will be appreciated before I pitch this.

well don't be so quick on discarding the ballast because if the lamp timer hasn't been reset " on some tv's" the timer lets the ballast know what voltage to send to the lamp. Also the ballast IS a consumable part and unfortunatelly Samsung, has a terrible rep on their ballast (check class A lawsuit)
