Sudden loss of picture on television

Post by me2375 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 3:59 am

The screen of my Samsung HLT5076S suddenly went completely black the other day, there was no sound of anything breaking from the TV when it happend. The audio is still functioning, and none of the display lights are lit on the front of the TV. The lamp is still illuminated when the TV is on, and I removed and inspected the color wheel and it appeared to be in good shape. I reinstalled it and it spins when the TV is one, but still no picture. I have heard a squeeling from behind the TV from time to time over the past couple of months, which is why I suspected the color wheel, but as I said it looked good.

Can the color wheel be in apparent good shape, still be rotating and still be the problem? If not, any other suggestions?

I would say ether the dmd chip or the dmd board. see if you can find a used one on ebay. or check on discount merchant.

also check for a full light engine. I have seen sometimes people will sell a used light engine for less then just buying the dmd board. buy whatever you can get for less money. now if you replace the dmd board you will need to leave the screws a little loose and ether use a mirror or another person in front of the tv to tell you if the video is lined up from top to bottom and side to side.

make sure to tape the safty switch down.
