removal of DMD board HLP5063W

Post by amstern » Mon Jun 15, 2009 11:11 pm

Ok I am a wreaking machine. I tried to change the color wheel on my HLP5063w and broke the white connector off the DMD board when I struggled to disconnect the old color wheel. I then tried to remove the board. There are four screws with springs around what appears to be a heat sink on the cover. Two removed easily. Two came out half way and then wouldn't turn. I, of course grabbed plyers to try to turn them and sheared them off. First question - are they supposed to come out? (I have removed the board at this point.) Second question - if so, do I have to remove the light engine to get them out? Any other suggestions.

Also if anyone knows, I picked up a HLR4667W which has all the shut off/turn on freeze problems found in this forum. Does anyone know if the DMD board in it is the same as the one in the HLP5063w?

Thanks for the help.

Hi amstern.

Answer to 1st question: They are not suppose to come out. You need to replace the DMD board with the chassis included. If you remove the heat sink your DMD can gets moved a little and then it wont project the image correctly.

About the compatibility: Two DMD boards are not compatible unless they have the same part number. Otherwise I don't recommend you to try to swap them.
