HLR5067W won't power on

Post by Hookup2 » Thu Apr 09, 2009 3:22 pm

When I power it on I get no startup chime, audio or video. I get a clicking noise and I can see that the lamp is on when I look at the back of the set and I get a very faint backlight on the screen. The LAMP light flashes and I have no control with the remote. After about a minute or so the unit powers itself off and the STANDBY/TEMP Led stays on solid. Itried leaving the tv unplugged for a day and same result. Tv is about 3 yrs old. Any help...please.

Hookup2,
The problem you are describing is called the infamous "Black Out" issue. This problem is usually caused by a bad DMD board. DMD board is $700 from samsung but Discount-Merchant sells them for $180-$250... I recommend buying the complete light engine if they have it as the price difference is less than $100 and you get many other parts that will come in handy. Also, replacing the engine as a whole is easier than changing the bare DMD board. Here is a link on where to find them:

Let us know how it goes.
