UPDATE
I received the SD card with an upload tool from Toshiba. Ran the update last night.
TV still works great but STILL will not hold the settings!
There must be something inside the tv that is supposed to hold power to a memory or something that controls the settings. Anyone have any help here?

Well the guy I got said he is an "upper tier tech" and he happened to know there was a softwear update. Told me he is sending it out (supposed to be on some kind of sd card with an adaptor? I just tried it with some other inputs and same results. Will not hold settings. Of Note: software version is 2.1.62.0 Aug 17 2006 10-52-09 FW:34 such is the reading from the screen. UPDATE: I just spoke to Toshiba tech support and they are sending me out the latest software. Their rep seems to thin...
