*Update*

Samsung is still covering the repairs for the light tunnel issue on these TVs. Serviceman came out today and replaced it no charge.

If you have replaced the color wheel, make sure the ribbon was put in the correct way! I had mine backwards once and had the same problem for weeks ripping my hair out after changing the lamp and ballast.

Did you verify visually that the color wheel is intact? It could be shattered. This model DLP will not fire the lamp if the color wheel does not spin. If its ok, then I would definitely assume a ballast issue.

Something could be overheating... check all fans. If the lamp lights, then its fine. Clean out all dust that may have accumulated in the set. I personally wouldnt think its the ballast but it is not a difficult item to change at all. Depending on the model, all you should have to remove is the lamp ...

HLR5656WX/XAA Black and white picture and Shadow

This TV was given to me by a friend, and I see why... First thing I did was replace the lamp (yes it was visably shattered). I fired it up and got only a black and white picture with about a 4" wide shadow down the left side. After pulling it apart I notice the color wheel shattered. Ok that answere...
