more stuttering questions

Mr Melendez,>>I just read an article about you and I would like to know how you've >succeeded in overcoming your stuttering?>What did your speech coach teach you? And how did you tackle the >psychological aspect, the 'fear of speaking/stuttering'? Though it >seems like you didn't think a lot about that since you agreed to >perform these interviews for Howard Stern.>>Anyway, I'd appreciate if you could answer me to some of those >questions, being a stutterer myself.>I've made progress as well, but I'm still not where I want to be. So >any tips might help :)>>Thanks a lot and have a nice day,>> Jerome Herr>Luxembourg answer:well, a lot of my success has been from confidence, I went to a speech therapist named dr. martin shwartz, but quite honestly, I didn't use his procedure all that much, it's just a matter of saying who cares what people think in your head when your talking to them, stuttering is something that you sometimes do, it doesn't define who you are!

I guess this is my first "Dear John" letter, huh? I was just dropping you a line to you that you are way cooler that Edd Hall. :) I'm a big "Tonight Show" fan and I think the show has gotten better since they got you in. It's amazing that the announcer could make such a difference, but look at McMahon, I guess. Is there an address I could write to to ask you for an autograph, John? I know you probably hate people bugging you for stuff, but it would be pretty cool to me. Hope to hear from you and keep up the great work!!!Your friend,
Jeff

answer: thanks so much, jeff, I just want you to know that just because you kissed my ass does not mean that I'll send you an autograph...P.S. the autograph is on the way

From: "george" <gepesantes@hotmail.com>>To: <mrjohnmelendez@hotmail.com>>Date: Tue, 7 Feb 2006 17:34:26 -0500>>dude, you made the best move ever being in a position of respect & fame; you were a piss-on for 15 years for someone (stern) that i respect greatly but year after year, it seemed you werent getting that respect .. & that's where i'm right now : having a boss/es that berate & belittle me which at times makes me feel insecure & i'm noticing that i'm stuttering more than i should. i hope i can be>in a situation where i can feel comfortable, be notice and have confidence like you in right now. seeing you before on the stern show, you seemed unsure of yourself & now, you have look of being secure which is way cool. i just had to get this off my chest because i wish something positive could happen to make this un-neccessary stuttering stop and its admirable to see a change in you (i'm just being honest...it sounds gay but i'm way far from being a fag). best of luck to you & your family.

answer: thank you so much, I think it's time you looked for another job, noone deserves to be berated

Subject: A stutterer>

Date: Fri, 18 Nov 2005 11:39:18 -0600>>

I'll try to keep this short because I would venture to guess that >this is an old email address and probably no longer used. My name >is Torey Kauth and I've stuttered since around age 6. I'm 26 now >and have just started therapy a few weeks ago to see what I can do >about it. Although I've been able to do "normal" things in life >(graduate from college, get married, become a father, etc) my >stuttering has defined who I am more than speech should ever define >someone. Since I know you've gone through things to control your >stutter, I was just wondering if you would be willing to share any >thoughts or advice or anything to someone like me who is just >starting out with an attempt to control or get rid of my stutter.>Thanks for your time!
Torey Kauth

answer: there are many things that you can do to prevent stuttering, talk at a higher volume, sing what you want to say, get into a character, you should sign up with the nsa, they send out newsletters that may help you, you can also get the machine that blocks your hearing, that might help, confidence helped me, but its up to the individual, I also went to dr. martin shwartz, I know john stossel went to the stolis institute in virginia, good luck & let me know how it goes

Hey, John. I know you're a busy man, but I'm still hoping you respond to this e-mail. Are you still on the Howard Stern show? I'm in Japan right now and can't listen to the show. They took the show off the air in San Diego sometime last year while I was there (came to Japan in August). A response would be greatly appreciated. We do get the Jay Leno show, nice to see you there. Thanks.

Sonia

answer: havent been with the stern show in 2 years, say tang chow ya een chu da, to your friends in japan for me

Dear Mr. Melendez

You recently performed at the Huke Lau in Chicopee, MA. While you were there, you posed for a picture with my son's shirt for a project we are calling Operation Fat Monkey.

Thank you for helping me with this crazy little project. Nathan is currently serving with the 101st Airborne Infantry in Iraq. While he is serving overseas, we have been "traveling" Nathan's shirt all over the country. We take pictures of different people with his shirt and then send him the picture and letter explaining how the picture came about. He loves it! And it makes us happy to bring a smile to our son's face.

Thank you again. Your participation in this project will make Nathan smile, shake his head, and wonder, "How the heck did Mom manage this one?"

Sincerely
Beth Jedziniak
A mother trying to cope in her own twisted way!

answer: no problem, glad to help the troops
